Alan Symonds founded the company in London in 1979, initially as a cash & carry business. The company then moved to Peterborough and developed into a wholesaler.
After a one-off bulk stock of net curtain material proved a roaring success, Alan began shifting the focus of the company towards window dressings, and soon became the market leader in Brise Bise & Café curtains.
As our soft furnishings range grew, as did the team and the customer base, and the business evolved into the company we are today.
In 2003, Ian, Alan’s son, took over as Managing Director and in 2005 we moved into a custom built 30,000sqft warehouse and head office, just off the A1 in Peterborough.
Ian and Alan have continued to develop our product portfolio, which has progressed such that it now encompasses a wide range of home furnishings, whilst still having its core in our soft furnishing roots. That innovative team approach, along with our enhanced capacity and excellent transport links, have seen us take on new and exciting ecommerce customers. We have also adopted new methods of order fulfilment, such as dropshipping direct to the end consumer.
We are now fully integrated with Linnworks, a platform that enables completely automated multichannel stock management and order fulfilment with our ecommerce partners.
We have learnt so much on our ecommerce journey so far, and we haven’t lost that human, family business spirit. With our amazing team, experience and knowledge, all backed up with Linnworks, we are continuing to scale up our operations, grow our product offering and expand our reach.
We are ready and eager to move into the next chapter of our story.
