Pantone colour
of the year

We are always keeping our eyes open and our ears to the ground for the next big thing, identifying the upcoming trends and recognising the styles that are here to stay. We use findings such as these below, to hone our current wholesale home furnishing collections, as well as shape the pipeline of products to come.

At Alan Symonds we keep a close watch on the trends revealed by Pantone, and when they release the new colour of the year, we use this information to start influencing designs for upcoming products and collections.

In 2021, there was a first, with Pantone selecting a combination of 2 very different colours; Illuminating yellow and Ultimate Gray. “A marriage of colour conveying a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting”

Cottagecore

Cottagecore is all about enjoying the simplicities in life, going back to basics and embracing nature. It is a romanticised countryside cottage inspired style, generally characterised by more neutral and muted colours, flowers, wood and vintage furniture. Picture snuggling up under a throw blanket in a window seat and reading a book.

Cottagecore in one form or other has been a style of living for a considerable time, however it has been catapulted into the mainstream predominantly by the series of lockdowns. It is a trend that is likely to endure for the foreseeable, as seen by the flood of people making a more long-term commitment to this way of life by moving away from the cities and into the countryside.
